ASPHA collaborates with Africa CDC to Design CEU and Mentorship Frameworks for harmonising CPD Practices Across Africa

The Association of Schools of Public Health in Africa (ASPHA) participated in a co-creation workshop held from 7–11 April, 2025 led by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). The workshop focused on the collaborative development of frameworks for awarding Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and putting in place a structured mentorship programme for Africa CDC training and fellowship programs. These frameworks are envisioned as structured mechanisms for validating professional development, supporting career progression, and advancing competency-based training for health professionals in Africa.  Key discussions during the session included accreditation mechanisms, implementation strategies, and alignment with continental and global practices. The CEU and mentorship initiatives support Africa CDC’s broader commitment to strengthening the public health workforce under the New Public Health Order, and enable ASPHA to further contribute to the harmonization of public health workforce development efforts across the continent.
